Project Medical Education (PME) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is an interactive 1-1/2 day program designed to educate policy makers and opinion leaders about the role of a teaching hospital. Our goal is to enhance participants' understanding of the complex system of medical education and the mission of a teaching hospital in training health care providers, conducting research, providing patient care and meeting the needs of underserved populations.
PME is adapted from a program created by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Similar programs were offered by academic medical centers in nine states in 2008. DHMC's program is frequently showcased by AAMC as a model for other institutions.
