Forty-four physicians with Dartmouth-Hitchcock ties, in 32 different specialties, were recently named to New Hampshire Magazine's list of the leading physicians in New Hampshire, in the magazine's April edition, on newsstands now.
In January 2008, New Hampshire Magazine distributed over 3,800 surveys to every physician in New Hampshire, asking them to nominate specialists in 42 different categories that they would recommend to friends and family for treatment. The surveys were then compiled and the top vote getters named as the top doctors and leading physicians in their respective specialties.
The 2008 edition of "Top Doctors" also included a special feature on Dr. Misty Blanchette Porter, MD, Medical Director for Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Infertility at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, who was named a top doctor in reproductive medicine. Porter told New Hampshire Magazine that "it was a given" that she would go into medicine. Her grandmother was a midwife and her mother is chair of a department of geriatric medicine at another hospital. She said she was also influenced to pursue reproductive medicine by the birth of Louise Brown—the world’s first child to be conceived by in vitro fertilization.
