Quitting Smoking

Printable Version

Smoking is the leading preventable cause of death, and quitting is the single most important thing you can do for your health.

However, it's hard to quit smoking and you might need some help. In this section, you will find a list of local smoking cessation programs (help with quitting), information on quitting smoking, and a selection of resources (helplines, websites, and other materials) that can assist you in being more successful in your attempt to stop smoking.

In addition to these resources, the use of Bupropion (Zyban, Welbutrin) and/or a form of nicotine replacement therapy can double your odds of quitting. Health insurance and workplace programs may cover some or all of the costs of these medications. Ask your family doctor/primary care provider (PCP) for more information on quitting smoking.
