The Transforming Medicine Campaign

Gifts and pledges to the Transforming Medicine Campaign for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009 totaled $40 million, bringing the Campaign to more than $236 million. The Campaign’s momentum was fueled not only by the sustained commitment of thousands of donors, but also by continued growth in the breadth of support for the Campaign. Almost 31,000 donors made gifts to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Medical School – the highest ever participation in a single year.

The goal of the Transforming Medicine Campaign is to raise $250 million in private funds for Dartmouth Medical School and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. It’s success will be measured by markedly healthier communities in our region; by breakthroughs that fundamentally change the practice of medicine; by the highly skilled alumni of our medical and residency programs who lead through innovation and creativity; and by the continuous rejuvenation of our medical school and academic medical center, safeguarding their roles as national leaders in medical education, patient care, research, and healthcare services.

This is a defining moment in an extraordinary time. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Medical School are forging solutions for many of the nation's most critical healthcare issues: developing better ways to care for an aging population; improving lives for those with chronic illnesses; reshaping a healthcare system fraught with increasing cost and decreasing access; creating new, smart models of care that put decisions back in the hands of physicians and patients; and translating research results more quickly for the benefit of patients. Our solutions are needed now more than ever.
