Ultrasound Guided Breast Imaging

Ultrasound Guided

The lesion shown above was a benign
   fibroadenoma at pathology.
The mammography division has a dedicated ultrasound unit which can be used in both diagnostic and interventional breast imaging. Diagnosis of benign cysts and fibroadenomas precludes further workup. Identification of worrisome features on ultrasound enables the radiologist to plan localization procedures with ultrasound. Ultrasound guidance is used for core biopsy and needle localization in selected patients. This modality saves time and is often more comfortable for the patient.
