DHMC Radiology In 1896, Dartmouth was home to the first clinical X-ray ever performed in the U.S. Over 100 years later, radiology remains a core focus at DHMC, even as it has evolved into an array of new technologies and imaging modalities. Traditional X-rays have been supplemented with fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomograpy (CT), ultrasound, nuclear imaging (PET, PET-CT, and SPECT), interventional radiology treatments, as well as rapidly developing software technologies, such as 3D imaging. In each of these areas, Dartmouth-Hitchcock has maintained its place as one of America's premier radiological centers, providing direct patient care and diagnostic support to all clinical areas of the hospital, as well as providing teaching programs for new generations of radiologists and a range of research activities designed to improve the power and usefulness of modern medical imaging. The department is organized into various divisions on the basis of either treatment or clinical function, and these divisions are listed below. Browse to any of them for guidance on what you can expect as a patient, as well as detailed information on the technologies and procedures involved, introductions to our clinical and teaching staff, highlights of ongoing research, and links to further resources. Additional general information about the Department can be found in the menu to the left. To learn more about the various aspects of modern radiology, we also recommend the wealth of clear and helpful information available at the RSNA/ACR website, RadiologyInfo.
