Holmes
1. Consequences of seizures on the neonatal brain. We are interested in the basic mechanisms of seizure- induced cognitive dysfunction. We are particularly interested in the alteration of neuronal circuits through activity-dependent mechanisms. The laboratory has expertise in both in-vivo and in-vitro electrophysiology, behavior testing, and immunohistochemistry.
2. Evaluation of potential neuroprotective agents in seizure-induced brain injury.
3. We plan to start a multicenter AED trial in very young children destined to develop pharmacoresistant epilepsy.
4. I also have a research interest on the effects of "subclinical" EEG discharges on cognitive function.
