  • We have 3 three-year positions available per year. We are now accepting applications for PGY2 positions to start 2011.

Application requirements

  • A completed post-doctoral year in internal medicine at an accredited institution, or a rotating internship with heavy emphasis on internal medicine at an accredited institution. The internship must include at least one of the following:

    • Eight months in internal medicine with primary responsibility in patient care

    • Six months in internal medicine with primary responsibility in patient care, plus a period of at least two months total time in pediatrics, or emergency medicine, or both. Residents must spend no more than two months in neurology during this year.

    Applicants who are interested in doing the preliminary year here at DHMC, should let us know when contacted to schedule an interview.  We will arrange an interview in the Medicine Department during your interview day, and share your ERAS application with their office.  It is not necessary to apply to the Medicine program separately. Learn more about the preliminary year at Dartmouth.

  • An interview with DHMC Neurology faculty and residents

  • The New Hampshire Board of Medicine requires applicants to have successfully passed USMLE Steps 1 and 2, or NBME Parts 1 and 2, or COMLEX exams 1 and 2, to apply for a training license. There is no minimum score on USMLE for application to the program.

  • International medical school graduates must have a currently valid certificate from the ECFMG to be eligible for application to a GME-accredited clinical training program. They must pass USMLE Steps 1 and 2, or NBME Parts 1 and 2, and have ECFMG certification to apply for a training license. It is strongly recommended that foreign applicants do at least one (1) year of formal training in the U.S. before applying.  In order to participate in an accredited Graduate Medical Education clinical training program at DHMC, foreign national physicians must receive ECFMG sponsorship as a J-1 exchange visitor. (In some cases, those who have graduated from U.S. medical schools may be supported for H1B visas).
