Application format

Interview dates

  • Qualified candidates will be invited to interview on one of 3 days, usually a Friday or Saturday in November or a weekday in December.

Position availability

  • We offer two four-year residencies every year. Residents do 2 years of General Surgery prior to starting their 4 years of Urology.

Application requirements

  • Current CV
  • Personal statement
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation which must be current and written from U.S. or Canadian urologists or surgeons. If we receive greater than three references, you will be asked to pick which three you would like to use.
  • All applicants are expected to have taken and passed USMLE part I prior to applying to the program. USMLE part II needs to be taken and passed prior to starting the residency.

Applications from IMGs are considered if the above requirements are fulfilled and provided that all exams required for ECFMG recertification are fulfilled.

DHMC sponsors the J1 Visa. In some circumstances, individuals who hold F-1 or H-1B Visas may be considered.

Candidates selected for interview typically have a two-digit score of 85% or highter on the USMLE Step 1, a high honors or high pass grade in their general surgery and/or urology clerkships, and strong letters of recommendation.

Final selections for interview will be made by the Program Director in consultation with other faculty. During the interview, each candidate should expect to meet with all of the members of the section of urology, including the VA urologists and one urologist from Concord Hospital.

An informal reception for invited applicants, our current residents, spouses and significant others will be held on the evening between the November interview dates. The interview day will consist of program orientation and individual interviews with faculty members as well as interaction with the housestaff.
