The goal of the Symposium is to engage the general and professional communities in discussion about the experiences of soldiers and their families in Modern Conflicts in the Middle East, and learn what advances in the treatment of the wounded war fighter will influence future civilian practice of medicine and delivery of care. Participants in various programs will be able to:
- Describe the challenges of deployment, service, and post-deployment re-integration of troops and their families.
- Explain some of the unique, post-September 11 features of modern conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- Report the role of the nurse in providing service to the US Army in Iraq.
- Discuss how advances in the treatment of the wounded warfighter will influence future civilian practice of medicine and delivery of care.
- Identify local, regional and national resources for supporting troops, veterans, and their families.
