How can the CHaD Family Center help you?

What is Molly's Place at the CHaD Family Center?

man with son

Molly's Place at the CHaD Family Center offers a welcoming space to provide families with education, unbiased information, and community connections in a respectful, culturally sensitive, and comfortable manner. It is a place for mom and dad to check their email, take advantage of a small resource library, and find resources. Molly's Place also provides a place for children and their families to unwind between appointments or during long hospitalizations.

"We were in the hospital for a month when our son Jack was born. We live locally, but we noticed that many families travel from great distances to visit DHMC. They had to go home to take care of work issues. There was no place to take a break or check in with the office. The Family Center is a great place to touch base with home and work, get information in a confidential setting, relax,or link with resources from the outside."

Is there someone available to help me at Molly's Place?

Molly's Place staff are available to answer your questions. They can answer questions about finding resources, connecting to information, or as simple as wayfinding within the larger hospital seeting.

Who created the CHaD Family Center and why?

The CHaD Family Center was created by families for families as a resource. Families across the region championed the idea for a Family Center, collaborated with DHMC staff and community providers, and gathered the resources to establish the Molly's Place at the CHaD Family Center. Part of this collaboration involved establishing the financial resources to create a Family Center. Funding is entirely through the generous donations made by people who believe in supporting families.

The CHaD Family Center understands that caring for a chronically ill or disabled child is challenging for every member of the family. A child may go to the hospital once a week for their care, but families are home six days a week providing the care themselves. It is essential for families to have resources to help them navigate systems, support siblings, and create a whole family experience around a chronic condition.
