Please use the link above to download a complete copy of DHMC's guide to total knee replacement (TKR) or use the links to the right to review the information by section. In preparing for your hospitalization, the staff and physicians have put together this booklet to help answer some of your questions about the procedure. A total knee replacement is also referred to as a total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

In the guide, we have included information from the departments of Nursing and Orthopaedics, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and the Office of Care Management. Staff from these departments will be involved in your post-operative care.

All the contents of this guide will be discussed in your pre-op class. Please bring the downloaded version with you, if possible, when you attend that class.

Mission Statement

The mission of the arthroplasty program is to ensure that every patient encounter is an excellent and valued clinical experience. Furthermore, we shall enhance teaching the art and science of this service and expand the knowledge base that will improve the provision of this world class service.
