Common Leg, Foot, & Ankle Conditions & Treatments
| The legs, feet, and ankles are made up of many bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments—the foot alone contains 28 bones and over 30 joints. The ankle has 14 bones, the lower leg has two main bones, the thicker tibia bone and the thinner fibula. Above the knee is the longest bone in the body, the femur bone. Pain in either the leg, foot, or ankle can be caused by the types of the conditions listed below. Trauma from accidents or sports injuries represents a large proportion of the cases we treat. |
