The Medical Informatics program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Academic Health System and the Dartmouth Medical School (DMS) aims to promote the intelligent use of technology in health care practice, medical research and teaching. Medical informatics is a rapidly expanding interdisciplinary field that will have increasing influence on health care in the future. Informational advances that have been shown to reduce medical errors and improve patient care include:
- Electronic medical records
- Decision support
- Electronic order-entry
The D-H/DMS Medical Informatics program aims to make significant contributions to this field through research, teaching and clinical practice.
