Welcome to the Section of General Surgery at DHMC. We provide services covering a wide range of clinical conditions and surgical problems organized around three primary divisions:

  • Surgical Oncology—full range of services related to neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, and soft tissues. Closely integrated with the Norris Cotton Comprehensive Cancer Center, the division emphasizes multidisciplinary care and early adoption of innovative surgical approaches to cancer care.

  • Minimally Invasive Surgery—offers a complete range of endoscopic and advanced laparoscopic surgical options for conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, solid organs, and body wall (hernias). The division takes advantage of state-of-the-art operating rooms dedicated to minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
  • Trauma and Acute Surgical Care—focused on prompt delivery of surgical care for patients with multisystem trauma, critical illness, or a wide range of other acute surgical problems. The trauma team coordinates multidisciplinary care at this Level I trauma center.
